Pole Camera Surveys

What is a Pole Camera Survey?

A chimney stack, which is the part of a chimney which projects above a roof, is a feature of many properties. As well as being specialists in GPR Surveys in London, we are also experts in providing pole camera surveys.

A pole camera survey is a non-invasive method of assessing the external condition of a chimney stack from the ground  up to a height of 15 metres without requiring access to the chimney stack from the roof.  This is a very useful survey for quickly and accurately spotting the following issues:

  • Cracks in the masonry
  • Pointing damage
  • Loose masonry
  • Condition of flaunching
  • Condition of chimney pots
  • Condition of cowls
  • Condition of leadwork

Clients have commissioned pole camera surveys for various reasons including – to identify potential sources of water ingress, to closely inspect damage to a chimney stack and to review fixings on cowls etc.

How does a pole camera survey work?

A p0le survey uses modern camera technology to review and record the external features of a chimney stack. A small, robust miniature CCTV camera with powerful lights is mounted on support rods.  The operator stands at the base of the property and raises the camera to the required height of the chimney stack (up to 15 metres).  Our trained operators closely observe the chimney stack and the footage that is captured can be used to identify any potential issues.

Unlike drone inspections, we are not required to obtain permissions from neighbouring properties to carry out pole camera surveys. Contact our team today to find out more about pole camera surveys or our other services such as camera surveys & GPR Surveys in London.
